Lassa Fever Dey Waka Upandan, Health Workers Dey Suffer!

My people, as una dey hear am, Lassa fever no wan gree rest for Nigeria o! Di Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) don raise alarm say health workers dey face serious wahala as dem deyent for di outbreak. Na wa!

Dem say two health workers don already kick bucket, while 15 others don catch di virus. Na serious numbers wey no fit carry last o! Dis matter don vex dem for NCDC because health workers dey put their lives on di line just to take care of di sick. Una sabi say dis Lassa fever no be small thing, e dey spread fast-fast like bush fire.

For di past five weeks, we don hear say nine states don report cases of dis virus across thirty-three local government areas, with Bauchi, Ondo, Taraba, Edo, and Plateau carrying di largest weight. Wetin e mean? E mean say we need to up our game and make sure say we dey protect our doctors and nurses.

NCDC talk say dem don notice some serious gaps for how health workers dey handle infection prevention. Na why dem don plan to investigate wetin dey cause all dis wahala. Dem don set up team wey go follow di matter with full attention. Na wetin we need to reduce di rate of exposure, becos no be only di sick na him dey suffer, even our health workers dey face di heavy blow.

We know say Lassa fever na virus wey dey come from Mastomys rat, di common African rat wey dey waka around. E dey enter human beings through contaminated food or items. This virus dey endemic for Nigeria and other West African countries. No be joke, o!

The World Health Organization (WHO) don also talk say Lassa fever fit infect person-to-person, especially inside health centers where dem no dey follow proper health protocols. Dis one no go fit help us at all! We need to buck up and make sure say we dey use personal protective equipment (PPE) well well.

My people, make we reason am – if we no fit protect di health workers, who go take care of di sick? Na dem dey save lives everyday, and na dem deserve our full support and protection. NCDC dey call on all health workers to stay alert and dey follow di rules wey go protect dem from this virus.

So, as wahala dey here, make we all open our eyes and mind. This Lassa fever matter no wan gree give us break. E get as e be, but together, we go fit fight am. Na dem say unity is strength. Make we unite and protect our health care frontliners!
