Chai! Nigeria gas wahala don land again, my people!
Na the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) don yan say their gas partner, Seplat Energy Plc, go shut down gas production for four days. Dis one no go sweet for our light supply o, as e go affect how we dey get power across di country. Dem say di maintenance go hold from February 12 to February 15, 2026.
For di official talk wey come from NNPC, dem talk say dis maintenance na routine work. No be say dem no sabi how to run di gas things. E dey important to make sure say everything dey okay, so we no go wakka enter wahala later.
Odeh, di Chief Corporate Communications Officer for NNPC, come remind us say Seplat na major player for gas supply wey dey help NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited. Dem dey do dis maintenance to make sure say dem dey safe and everything dey work well for our gas facilities.
Dem come still talk say gas supply go reduce during dis four days and e fit affect power generation small. Naim we see say over 70% of our power na from gas-fired plants. E no go too sweet if dem reduce am, because we fit dey face ‘load management’ if we no get enough gas.
But no worry, NNPC dey work hard to make sure say dem find alternative gas suppliers to cover up for di gap. Dem dey hustle make sure say e no go too bad for we wey dey rely on light.
Na true say, Nigeria gas sectors don dey face plenty kasala, from vandalism to payment wahala. But NNPC still dey assure us say dem dey try. If dem fit complete di maintenance well, we go see full gas supply come back fast-fast.
Dis maintenance matter dey highlight di connection wey dey between our gas operations and di light wey we dey enjoy. Even small wahala for gas supply fit scatter our whole distribution network, and we no wan gree for dat one.
As di government dey try change di electricity market and promote gas usage for di “Decade of Gas” initiative, e clear say we need to invest plenty into redundancy and storage. We no fit stay depend on gas when e fit chop our light anytime.
