Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, wey be the Chief Executive Officer of NUPRC, talk this one as she launch the program for Sub-Saharan Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference for Lagos. She yarn say the new reforms wey dey under Petroleum Industry Act 2021 don create beta ground for investors wey wan enter Nigerian upstream sector.
She dey call all the credible investors to come fit grab one of the 50 oil and gas blocks wey dem dey offer across different terrains. E no go too hard to make money as Naija dey ready to grow, with the focus on responsible resource development wey go benefit everybody.
According to Eyesan, Africa dey shine for energy investment, as dem expect to take about $50 billion from that global $520 billion investment wey dey come for 2026. Na over 8% of the whole money! Talk about serious growth from the below 4% wey dem dey collect before. Naija dey position well for this action.
She also touch light on how domestic and regional capital fit help stabilise our energy future. No be only foreigners go come save us! We go need local investment wey fit create real opportunities for our people to grow.
Don’t forget say Africa don establish Africa Energy Bank wey dey Nigeria, to ensure we fit finance our own energy projects. Na big move to ensure sey we no go dey depend on oyinbo money all the time. Eyesan dey call on all stakeholders to support this initiative.
For that conference, she also mention say, regional collaboration dey push Naija and Africa as a whole forward. Dem dey improve gas and power infrastructures wey go provide better access for everybody, make e no go dey as una dey suffer to get light and gas.
And for those wey dey wait for 2024 licensing awards, Eyesan assure everybody sey dem dey finalize am show soon. Out of 31 blocks wey dem offer last year, 25 don already get bid and remaining ones go still dey served out later. Wetin you dey wait for? E be like say Naija dey shine brighter!
As dem dey wrap up the conference, Eyesan dey talk say with this new opening, more independent African operators dey come play for our oil field.
