Na so FAAN, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, don revise cargo port charge for Lagos airport, Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) to N15 per kilogram. Abeg, wetin happen? Na wah o! Dem do am after some serious wahala with cargo handling stakeholders.

This gist wey una dey hear, na from wise man, Henry Agbebire, wey be FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection. E no easy you know, because dem don dey argue this matter since, as Customs Licensed Cargo Agents no gree support the first plan wey wan make dem increase the charge to N20 per kilogram.

Dis wahala don dey cause serious gbege for cargo operations, wey make FAAN sit down come talk as e go better for everybody. Dis new charge wey dem gree na balance arrangement o! E go fit support FAAN wey need money for infrastructure palaver, and still no go make the operators vex too much.

The meeting wey gree this new price happen on February 9, for MMIA Terminal 2 Conference Room. E be like say dem gather all the powerful pipo wey dey handle cargo matter. Lekan Thomas, wey be the Director of Cargo Development and Services, na him run dem meeting. Dem don talk through jare, and finally, everybody don agree na N15.00 per kilogram be the new charge.

FAAN talk say dis new rate go help ease tension wey dey for air cargo business, and dem expect say warehouses wey don dey stalled go open back. Na true talk o! Dem wan make sure say business dey run smooth for MMIA, while dem dey upgrade cargo systems for the airport too.
