She talk say dem perform di procedure for five patients wey dey suffer from chronic suppurative otitis media – wetin dey cause wetin we fit call ‘ear wahala’ with plenty discharge and permanent hole for eardrum.

According to Adebayo, many Nigerians dey live with dis condition for life because normal surgery no dey available for local level. “Na only wetin dem go tell you be keep your ear dry and no allow water enter,” she yarn. E mean say nobody fit swim or even waka for rain freely. E no bad for dem to get wet before, but dia problem be say surgery to close di hole for eardrum na serious wahala for Nigeria.

Adebayo talk say, “Dis method dey make recovery faster, and di success rate dey higher, no be like before.” As e be so, all di grafts wey dem use don still dey intact!

Dem spend N150,000 for surgery for Lagos, but if na abroad, e fit reach N1 million. Na so dem decide to make am cheap for we people through sponsorship wey di doctors pick up. Adebayo don shout say na big opportunity for Lagos to show dem way for specialized ear surgery, and people from other parts of Nigeria don dey ask questions.

Dr. Nkemjika wey dey lead di surgery talk say no be money matter nah e carry dem go start am. Na to give back to di society wey dey produce plenty talented medical hands amidst all di wahala. “We borrow instruments and something just to ensure say dis surgery fit happen,” e add.

The Chief Medical Director of Isolo General Hospital, Dr. Saliu Oseni, don also talk say na huge achievement under im watch. Dem don fix di eardrums of dem patients, and for dem eyes, this na big step wey dem dey push to expand dis program. Dem dey target to reach at least 15 patients for di next round, but no be small, funding wahala and theatre space dey stop dem.

Last-last, chronic suppurative otitis media dey serious issue for Nigeria, especially for young adults. If e no get treatment, e fit lead to discomfort, social wahala, and hearing loss. But with dis surgery success, dem dey move towards better ear care for our people!
