Na for 289 polling units for Federal Capital Territory dem go carry this exercise go, all in preparation for the Area Council elections wey go happen on February 21, 2026.
The INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, show say dem don prepare well-well for this election. Dem don train dem election officers and security personnel plus prepare the BVAS devices wey go help dem collect data better.
Dis election go involve more than 1.6 million people wey register to vote for over 2,800 polling units across six councils for Abuja. Amupitan even describe 2026 as critical, saying security go need dey tight to make sure say everybody fit vote without wahala. He talk say e don meet security agencies to brief dem on how dem go handle the matter.
Na serious matter be dis! And as e be now, INEC dey plan to also conduct bye-elections for some constituencies for Rivers and Kano States on the same day as the mock exercise. Na double wahala wey dem go face!
Amupitan dey call on all voters wey registered to show face for the mock exercise come carry their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the exercise. E go help them test the system before the main show.
Na so far, INEC don also mention say dem dey prepare for governorship elections for Ekiti State come June 20 and Osun State come August 8, 2026. Plenty work dey ahead, but INEC dey geared up to face am. Omo Naija! Make we just hope say dis elections go smooth and no wahala go happen like before.
