Hmm, this guy talk am well well. Him dey stress wey we no go fit dey rely on our natural resources alone to make money. Instead of just producing raw materials, we need to focus on goods wey get deeper collective know-how. No be by saying we dey sell palm oil and cocoa, we suppose dey produce things wey bad guys all over the world dey find—those sophisticated products!
Dr. Adedeji also yan say say make we no dey just pick winners for industrial policy like say na gambling. We need data, my people! We gatz find those products we fit produce with the skills we already get or we fit easily gather. Na different levels of expertise and innovation dey make economy dey grow, no be by force wey we dey try do everything wey no fit work.
One serious thing wey him talk wey dey touch my heart na the way government suppose take check policy matter. Every strategy wey we get, whether na tax or trade or infrastructure, dem gatz fit ask one question: “This thing we dey do, e go make our exporters better or worse?” Na only then we go fit know whether we dey on the right track.
