But no wahala, dis new trial go give patients opportunity to receive free treatment wey dem organize with help from Lagos University Teaching Hospital and Medserve’s NSIA-Diagnostic Centre, all di way from Lagos.
Professor Olusegun Alatise, wey be di head of Surgery for di Faculty of Clinical Sciences, dey yan say dis clinical trial go use beta immunotherapy wey get name PD-1 blockade. This na special treatment wey dey help di body fight di cancer by using di person own immune system. E sweet true!
Professor Alatise talk am say na im and im crew plus all di experts from Lagos and even one top cancer center for USA, Memorial Sloan Kettering, wey come together do dis big work. Dem create dis trial to fight colorectal cancer as e dey serious matter for our land.
Dis development na wetin dem dey call ‘first of its kind’ for sub-Saharan Africa. Dem don get di approval from National Health Research Ethics Committee and di National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control. Na beta achievement be dis as e go help guide dem for ethical medical research.
