Azuta-Mbata no wan hear say government dey neglect South-East like say na ghost town. E talk say SEDC na correct way to show say government wan balance things for all parts of the country. As we dey look the future, dis forum dey try map out how to make South-East a global industrial hub by 2050. Na serious work wey dey involve governors, loads of business people, and other stakeholders wey sabi wetin dem dey do.
Dem no fit close eye to di contribution wey South-East don make to Nigeria. Na so Azuta-Mbata talk say dem still dey feel neglected and excluded somehow. “E no go sweet if we no talk wetin dey happen. We need to acknowledge say this feeling dey everywhere, and if we no address am, e fit scatter our national unity,” na wetin e talk.
Him come dey beg the Federal Government, make dem no just dey play with the funding matter. “If you fit fund SEDC well, e go help develop di region faster, and e go fit heal old wounds,” na wetin e talk wey get sense, my people.
Dr. Mark Okoye, wey be the Managing Director of SEDC, come join talk, talk say South-East dey face $10 billion infrastructure problem. E talk say make di five South-East states—Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo—join hands na so dem go fit get bigger investments.
The man no forget say dem dey receive about $4 billion yearly from Igbo people wey dey abroad, and na so dem suppose use am build strong projects like gas pipelines wey fit serve everybody. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, wey dey lot of development work, come talk say Vision 2050 no fit just dey for paper; e must enter ground make e impact rural communities.
As di forum dey continue for Thursday, dem go dey discuss how agriculture, transportation and digital economy fit enter di plan for the next 25 years. Dem dey find correct ways to turn South-East to di next big thing, and E be like say di people dey ready to play their part too.
