Soweto Don Vow Say Dem No Go Stop Protest for Lagos

Wetin dey happen for Lagos na serious matter o! Taiwo Hassan wey dem dey call Soweto, na di leader wey dey run protest against demolitions and forced eviction wey dey happen, still dey stand gidigba despite police wahala.

Last Wednesday, dem gather for street waka go protest, but police no gree dem shine, dem use tear gas scatter di crowd. Na so everybody begin run turn small small, as dem no wan collect pepper from police o! But Soweto no gree dem silence am. E don collect arrest from police wey carry am go detention for one night.

After dem don hold am down, Soweto and him guy Dele Frank still waka enter Yaba Magistrate Court on Thursday. Magistrate A.I.O. Alaka no waste time, e bail dem for N200,000 each, but e don set one condition wey dem must bring two people wey go vouch for dem.

Soweto and Dele, dem dey face heavy wahala o! Dem charge dem five counts wey include everything from conspiracy to commit felony, to obstruction of traffic and even sing abusive songs wey make police vex. E be like say dem no wan hear any bad song about dem!

When Soweto don finally come out, im talk say police do am strong thing – e carry matter come out say dem blindfold am and beat am well, before dem carry am go Panti police station for Yaba. Despite all di miss, im still dey shout say dem go continue di protest until dem hear di cry of di people wey dey suffer.

“We no go stop. Wetin matter na, di needs of di people for Makoko, Oworonshoki and other areas must be addressed. Make dem stop all dis demolitions and compensate di victims,” na wetin Soweto make clear as e dey talk.

Comrade Alex Omotehinse, wey be di President for Centre for Human and Socio-Economic Rights, don also talk say di arrest no too good, e call am excessive police force. E don also yan say Lagos State Commissioner of Police dey show partisanship, and di protest no go stop. Na wetin e talk be dat.

Another comrade, Ibrahim Oluwatobilola wey dey represent Voice of di Masses, don dey call attention to di matter too. E talk say dis kind of move na bad sign for democracy, warning say if dem keep dey suppress peaceful demonstration, dem go put democracy for wahala.

She don call on di authorities make dem respect di rights of di citizens and take action fast to stop di suffering wey dem dey face for di displaced communities.
