Wahala don dey everywhere as Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) don come out with serious gist wey happen for Ibadan.
Dem accuse Ibadan South-West Local Government of doing am bad bad thing by destroying railway infrastructures wey cost plenty money, as in na millions of naira. The NRC say dem go use all the security and legal options wey dey available to protect their railway corridor and avoid further wahala.
This whole palaver begin when dem claim say the chairman of Ibadan South-West Local Government, Kehinde Amada, gather some thugs and people wey dress like Army to come vandalise NRC property for Mile One–Ten axis. E no stop there, oh! As dem dey cause trouble, NRC Police guys try to intervene, but dem push them back! Abeg, wetin be this!?
As NRC public relations officer, Callistus Unyimadu, don yarn, e say the chairman claim say na the Oyo State governor send am to do am. Crooze! This matter dey serious sef, as the NRC categorically talk say any encroachment wey happen na violation of federal law. Wetin dem go do na??
The report say everything wey dem destroy include rails, sleepers, those signal poles, and even billboards. Customers wey dey use the railway dey suffer for the mess wey dem create. Fences wey tenants build legally too don dey scatter everywhere!
NRC no wan keep quiet for this matter. Dem don start documentation of everything wey happen, as dem go make sure say dem protect national assets. Dr. Kayode Opeifa, wetin be NRC Managing Director, don beg the Oyo State governor to talk to Amada make e calm down. He no wan make law and order scatter because of one person wahala!
When we reach out to Dotun Oyelade, the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, him ask make we give am time to check the NRC statement before him go fit respond. So, we dey wait to hear wetin him go talk.
As this gist dey play out, we fit only hope say dem go solve this wahala quick before e turn to something bigger. Na so our railway go survive if dem no dey cause trouble for railway corridors!
