Last Monday, Majority Leader Noheem Adams call meeting wey fit make plenty people gather. For di meeting, e talk say all dem demolitions for Makoko, Oko-Afon, and Shogunro go pause sharp sharp. Dem residents dey vex, and na dat reason dem call Assembly make dem yarn their mind.
Adams no slack, him direct all di ministries wey dey involved for di demolition make dem chill. Him come talk say dem go do on-the-spot check, to see wetin dey happen for di ground, make dem know how di residents dey coping.
“We go protect lives and property,” na wetin Adams talk. He no wan make anybody dey live for high tension wires wahala. I mean, e no good at all!
But before him drop mic, no be small beef dey go between di Assembly and Bayo Adefuye, wey be Chairman of Yaba Local Council. Dem dey vex say wetin him do, distribute food to displaced people, na no be wetin dem need now. Shelter na di main koko o!
Then come enter Olajide Babatunde, wey be Special Adviser on e-GIS and Urban Development. Him yarn say dem dey work on plan wey go make Makoko beta. E also make am clear say dem never plan to wipe di community away. Di Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu don even drop $2 million for redevelopment wahala. Na so him talk say Makoko na part of Lagos history!
Di residents wey don suffer from di demolition don also talk say dem no wan any NGO to come dey represent dem again. Na direct talk dem dey look for! Dem wan government to come meet dem, no wahala.
This demolition matter don dey gather different reactions. People dey complain, human rights groups dey shout, everybody dey vex. Some even talk say dem demolish wetin no suppose comot. Di government dey insist say all dis demolition na for safety sake. Dem say na to protect di community and bring better plans.
But no be everybody dey gree o! Di protests no wan stop, as residents dey gather dey shout against di action. Dey don even meet for di Lagos Assembly, with police dey force am make dem no enter. Na serious gbege dey brew for Lagos!
