According to wetin dem drop from National Bureau of Statistics, state government don receive N9tn for 2025 o! But wetin we go call am? The people still dey suffer as hardship dey grow like bush fire. Labour unions and civil society dey complain say this money no dey do anything for ground; na only for Governor house dem dey see am shine.
NLC talk say dem go make sure say dis kleptocracy wey dey happen no go continue, but instead of improvement, dem say many states dey mismanage the inflow and forget wetin citizens really need. Na by the time dem calls state governors, dem no fit even defend how dem dey use the money well!
This financial windfall no dey translate to better living conditions for the common man. Ki lo je? People dey cry for basic needs like education, healthcare, and good roads, but na only for ‘beautification’ dem dey focus on! A lot of chieftains dey talk say dem dey use the money to build fancy roundabouts while citizens dey suffer.
Even economists don raise red flag, say as state dey depend too much on this FAAC allocation, dem fit enter serious wahala once oil price dey shake. Dem dey caution say states need to swear to develop their own revenue sources instead of waiting for Abuja to send their allocation every month.
And bros, wey you hear about BudgIT report? Dem don talk say more than 30 states dey rely on FAAC for their entire revenue! Lagos dey perform well but many others dey fall behind as dem no dey make effort to build local economy.
The way wey this matter dey play out, e no good for anybody. We fit dey hear about heavy allocations, but if no change dey happen for ground, wetin be the point? States go need to sit down, use their brains well, and make sure say dem dey invest all this money for people wey dey suffer!
As we dey look forward to 2027, na wetin we go see if dis allocations no dey help the grassroots? If we no tackle this issue seriously, wetin we dey do? E be like say greater change go be mere wishful thinking! Make we keep our eyes open, and hold dem accountable!
