No be joke, dem don align with National Sugar Development Council (NSDC) to jampact sugar production as major driver for industrial wahala wey dey happen for dia states. E be like say we go soon dey chop sugar wey we produce ourselves instead of all dis imported one.
According to wetin happen for di meeting, dem don decide to stop raw sugar imports, make we sabi fit produce our own wahala for house. Na so NSDC wey dey in charge of sugar matter for Nigeria come talk say dem sabi gree collaborate with governors to make sure sey states dey ready for big investments wey go make sugar production yan. E make sense, abi?
Mr. Kamar Bakrin, wey be Executive Secretary for NSDC, don also identify 11 states wey get good land to grow sugarcane. States like Oyo, Kwara, and even Kaduna dey prepared to join the sugar party. As per him talk, government go join hand with investors and people wey get land to make sugar project work well for dem side.
Bakrin self talk say di investment wey we dey look for fit reach like $250 million, and na only dat money go fit dey produce like 100,000 metric tons of sugar every year! Na serious business oh! Imagine say we fit generate by-products like ethanol and bio-electricity from dis sugar. E mean say sugar go dey sweet pass before.
As federal and state governors dey pump effort into dis sugar matter, dem dey try coordinate everything well to make sure sey investors no go dey confused. Na him Director-General of NGF, Dr. Abdulateef Shittu, talk say coordination and strong investment frameworks go help make sugar development matter bubble.
Dem fit see sugar production as opportunity wey go create job for people wey dey community. E no go matter whether you dey farm or you dey work for industry, everybody go benefit as community go become partner for this sugar project.
At the end of di day, e go good if Naija fit free itself from dey wahala of sugar imports, and dey feel proud say we dey produce wetin our people dey use for dem sweet teeth.
