Governor Mai Mala Buni na the man wey do the commissioning, and him talk say this new Biomedical Science Research and Training Centre no be small thing. E cost over N800m to build, and na for Yobe State University.
Buni dey yarn say this BioRTC go upgrade medical research and innovation for the state. E wan make sure say Yobe fit compete with international standard for medical studies. You sabi say medical wahala for Africa dey waka, but most times dem dey look foreign research wey no sabi wetin dey happen for our side.
“Africa don rely too much on research wey no match our wahala, but this new centre go correct that kolo mentality,” Buni talk as him dey shine him eye. E wan make sure say research go dey local and dey talk about wetin we dey face for our health problems. That one na big move o!
As if that one no do, Buni still gree say dem go build dialysis centre for Gashua before year run out. Na so e go make life easier for kidney patients wey no go need waka dey go far to receive treatment. E no easy o, and na better decision wey go help plenty people.
“We no dey slack when e come to dialysis; that new centre go ease dem wahala of traveling long distance,” na wetin Buni yan again. BioRTC don already train over 1,000 people from Yobe and other Africa states through summer schools and workshops wey the state government don sponsor complete.
For the launch, Buni even drop N30m as cash award for three students wey win TeenEagle 2025 competition for London. Dem be winners na Nafisa Abdullahi, Hadiza Kashim Kalli, and Rukayya Mohammed Fema. Dem come out top from over 20,000 people wey contest from 69 countries. Each of dem carry home N10m plus full scholarship wey go carry dem reach university level. Na wah!
Buni dey talk say their success show wetin dem dey do for education and human development for Yobe. E even mention say state dey shell out over N2.6bn every year for 890 students wey dey school for Nigerian Tulip International College. We go just dey chop sweet news like this!
Prof. Mahmoud Bukar Maina, wey be the Founder and Director of BioRTC, talk say the centre don receive equipment donations worth over N10bn, na here wey research go shine bright. Prof. Amadi O. Ihunwo from Society of Neuroscientists of Africa join the gist, come confirm say facilities for the centre dey top notch, better for cellular, molecular and neuroscience research.
