Chai! My people, e be like say fuel wahala don show face again. Wetin happen be say, Dangote Petroleum Refinery don sharp sharp increase the price of petrol wey we dey call Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) by N100 per litre. This kain gbege don make marketers wey don pay before, now dem dey hustle to cough out extra cash before dem fit load fuel.
As e be, marketers wey don pay N699 per litre now need to gather N799 before dem fit load any fuel. Na wah o! Dem say na because of some wahala wey dey the refinery wey make dem stop all loading since midnight. E be like say plenty trucks dey stranded for the gantry as dem don stop loading to settle wetin dey happen.
But wait o, wetin cause this kain change? E be like say Dangote refinery no dey perform well as dem suppose, na im make plenty people dey vex. Dem say because the Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracking unit dey pepper dem, na im make dem dey operate below full capacity. If no be careful, this wahala fit last till the first half of 2026, abi you get am?
For the notice wey dem send to customers, dem talk say the festive period don finish, and na so dem need to realign pricing to what dem fit manage without wahala. Dem talk say before, dem dey give us festive price support to make life easier, but now, make we face reality. Under this new arrangement, the price don become N799 per litre, my people!
No forget say the increase don already affect pump prices, as many filling stations for Abuja don quickly jack up their prices to as high as N910 per litre. Na so the market dey react sharp sharp anytime Dangote refinery tok something.
Make I yarn you wetin dey happen for different places: for Abuja, Optima Energy and AP filling stations don increase their price from N815 to N910 and N899 respectively. Even other stations dey adjust their prices for N800 to N850 range, depending on where dem dey collect fuel from.
This kain wahala show say Dangote refinery don turn to major player for our petrol market, as wetin dem dey do fit scatter or shape the entire pricing system for Nigeria. Although e dey good say we dey refine fuel here, but the wahala wey dey follow e dey heavy for our pocket.
Now e don clear say as Dangote refinery sets price, everywhere go follow suit. Motorists don dey complain already say this increase go affect dem well well, especially commercial drivers wey dey rely on fuel to do hustle every day. E don make many motorists dey wonder if the prices for fuel go ever drop to something wey go sweet for naive Nigerians.
Nigeria consumers fit only dey watch, as the NMDPRA don promise say fuel prices go dey fall but we fit only hope say e go happen like magic because the way things dey go, anytime we hear from Dangote, we gatz dey prepare for the worst.
