According to the big man, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Isaq Oloyede, during one meeting wey dem hold last Saturday for Ikeja, Lagos, dem find out say over 7,000 candidates claim say dem be albinos last year. Na wetin cause am? Na because some wahala people dey use technology wey no fine to fake their way. Oloyede talk say some even use AI to turn themselves to albinos. E be like say dem carry their problem come give JAMB.
E no stop for there o! Oloyede come dey warn faith-based schools say make dem no dey disguise as secular schools for admission, only to later begin put religious wahala for students. E talk say, ‘If you be faith-based school, make you show am clear. Na wetin law go allow you do.’ Na true talk, I go reason am well!
But wait o, the matter no end for here. Oloyede drop another bombshell: some undergraduates dey sit for UTME to change course or help their paddy gain admission. For the 2025 UTME, the top candidate wey score correct no be new student, na 300-level student wey dey already chop school fee. Na man wey sabi for school go always find way, abi?
Dem go now dey check any candidate wey don enter school wey wan sit for UTME. If you no talk say you don dey school, wahala go dey you, and you fit lose your admission. Na them go reason say, if you don dey dodge process, you fit dodge school!
For criteria wey dey guide admission for federal institutions, na so dem share am: 45% na merit, 20% na catchment area, 20% for educationally disadvantaged states, and the rest na other considerations. Na good way wey dem dey try balance things.
Oloyede come reason say, many underage candidates dey enter system. Dem talk say 16 years na the minimum age wey dem fit admit. Last year, only 78 out of 42,000 underage candidates meet the criteria. E get as parents dey push children wey no ready. E clear say dem go still dey do special assessment for any exceptional underage candidate, but e no go easy.
To stop wahala of malpractice, dem don decide say computers wey registered for CBT centres no go fit transfer between centres again. Oloyede clear say, all registration data dey come straight from the National Identification Numbers wey candidates dey provide. No be to just block road anyhow.
As 2025 UTME dey come close, Oloyede don already show say 974,855 candidates don gree enter from about 1.95 million wey apply. Dem don also pay over N2.4 billion to schools wey dey follow JAMB rules for past ten years. E go sweet me if dem fit do better next time, wey una think?
