Youth Na Dem Power We Need for Education Matter!

My people, make we gist about wetin dey happen for our education system for Naija. E no be news say we get serious wahala for how we dey plan education for dis country. SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria director, Eghosa Erhumwunse, don yarn some wetin dey worry am, and e sweet me, no be small.

Erhumwunse talk say as we dey mark International Day of Education, make we put our focus for the youth. E dey reason say abeg, no be only infrastructure we go dey look at; we need to include the voices of our young ones for planning education. Na dem go fit carry the ideas wey go transform our schools. E no make sense say we dey build fine schools, but when dem enter, dem no fit connect wetin dem dey learn to wetin dey happen for their life.

Naija dey suffer from plenty pikin wey dey out of school. E say, “Despite the wey we don try, wahala still dey!” E no lie, our children and young people dey catch cold for outside while we dey talk of curriculum reforms and teacher training as if na dem go solve all our wahala.

Eghosa dey remind us say education na opportunity wey fit lift all of us, but if we no carry the youth along, e go just be like toasting for breeze. Millions of kids dey out there, dey dream, but school no dey help dem reach their dreams. E dey important to give dem proper classrooms wey no go dey like market jampacked, and train teachers wey sabi wetin dem dey do.

He don shout am clear say wetin we need pass all dis physical changes be say we gots dey give the youth power to contribute for how dem wan dey learn. E dey vex when e see say education dey far from dem own reality. “When we dey plan without the youth voice, we dey dey push dem away wey go blur the learning process,” e talk.

Make we no just dey push papers and build schools; make we build culture wey go allow our young people to shine. Dem get wetin e dey take to reform education, and if we fit listen to dem, e go help us achieve Sustainable Development Goal 4 wey we dey aspire to.

According to Eghosa, for education to dey really work, we need to dey gree say na youth get the ground. Dem go fit deliver relevance, equity, and long-term impact wey we dey find. Naija, it time to rise up to dis challenge, na our future dey for dis!
