The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) for Kaduna don blow whistle say dem dey suffer as e be. Alhassan Musa, wey be the NUP secretary for Kaduna, talk say e pain am say dem dey die just like that, all because state government no wan pay dem their entitlement after plenty delay.
Dem don enter 2025 with hope, thinking sey this year na go be the year wey dem go see their money, but as e be, hope don dey fade like morning dew. Musa talk say, “We thought 2025 would be a year of hope and celebration for pensioners and those who lost their jobs in Kaduna State. But as the year progresses, that hope is gradually fading.” Abeg, how e go take be like this?!
Dis matter no be small o! Many of dem wey die even get court judgment wey order the state government to pay dem their benefits, but na so dem go dey wait wey goose go lay golden egg. Musa lament say e no sweet at all, as about 20 of dem wey don serve Nigeria loyally don waka without receiving wetin them suppose collect. Wetin dey happen for this country self?
He continue to talk say dem dey look up to the governor, Uba Sani, make e do something before e reach to everybody. People dey suffer, my people! Na so e be for pensioners. Dem talk sey, “Our people are dying in silence. They are voiceless, helpless and hopeless.”
No forget say, dem still get some retirees wey dey under Contributory Pension Scheme, many of dem no fit see wetin dem suppose collect, and na only tears dey flow for their side. Musa even talk say, “Their tears are drying up, and the pain is now being borne by the heart because the body can no longer absorb the shock.” Na so e be when wahala don too much for person head.
Pension na wetin plenty retirees dey depend on for survival, and with all these delays, wetin remain? Dem no fit chop, dem no fit see doctor, and shelter don become serious problem. Na why dem dey shout for help from governor make e hear their cry.
Kaduna State don dey face plenty wahala in terms of pension payments, and labor unions dey complain tire. E get as e be, state government talk sey dem dey plan reforms, but wetin be reform if e no reach the people wey need am? Musa don talk say make dem see pension payments as both legal and moral thing, because this delay dey turn suffering to dem.
