Dis fire incident na serious gbege wey happen as dem say na Sunday, January 25, 2026, dem go do the assessment. NEMA Uyo office receive distress call from Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (CRSEMA) saying fire don burn plenty things for di area. Na wetin dem find be say residential buildings, food supplies and even people’s means of livelihood don go up in flames.
The team wey carry out dis assessment, led by Principal Relief Officer Akpakpan Victor, get plenty people wey join body, including the Secretary to the Cross River State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh, and people from different agencies dem. Dem go meet community leaders, check the place wey fire don spoil and hear how e take affect dem.
Wetin dem see no sweet at all. Plenty people don lose their houses, food, and way to earn dem living. E be like say na plenty families dey suffer as dem dey displaced. But thank God, nobody lose their life, but the community don dey cry out for help from Federal Government.
Dem don dey shout make government help dem with food, shelter and even support for their minds because na serious matter be dis. NEMA wey run the show also talk say na high time make agencies join hands well to dey handle fire issues properly, so something like dis no go happen again.
