No be small matter, my people! As at November 30, 2025, 211 of their sites don face vandalism and theft, wey no gree make network run smooth for especially those wey dey use data and call.
CEO of MTN Nigeria, Dr. Karl Toriola, drop this gist for LinkedIn, and e talk am clear say na hin dey carry the responsiblity for all these wahala wey dey affect customer experience. “We dey try, but we still get plenty work to do,” na wetin he talk. He emphasize say dem get over 85 million subscribers by September 2025, but the fibre cuts plus una wahala don cause over 1.6 million complaints!
Can you imagine? Dem resolve all those complaints o, across different channels like calls, emails and even social media. Na sure say no easy to handle all those gripes, but dem manage am well.
From January to July 2025 alone, dem record 5,478 fibre cuts. E be like say some people no sabi the importance of telecom infrastructure for our daily life, as dem dey chop cable during road construction and other activities. Na serious challenge for everybody wey dey use network to do business or even connect with family.
However, e no be all doom and gloom. Despite all these wahala, MTN don still be number one for network speed according to Ookla. Plus, dem don finally return to profit after two years of loss, and don approve interim dividend of ₦5.00 per share for shareholders. Na true testimony say dem fit bounce back from deep losses.
Dr. Toriola call for collaboration with government to secure telecom infrastructures better, as e be critical for our national development. Elekete, everybody need to reason say if we no protect this infrastructure, e go affect not just MTN, but all the economy wey dey rely on good network.
As MTN dey prepare for their 25th anniversary this year, dem dey vow to dey listen to customers, respond fast, and improve consistently. The reality be say, if dem fit handle these network issues, dem go fit provide better service wey go make everybody happy.
