No be small matter o! As the news dey hot, 22 lawmakers from Kano State House of Assembly and 8 from House of Representatives don pack their bags come out from New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). Dem come announce say dem go follow their oga, Governor Abba Yusuf, as him dey move to APC.
This whole gbege wey dey happen, na real political wahala! The wahala reach peak as Kamaluddeen Shawai, wey be spokesperson for the Speaker, come drop statement to confirm say dem don resigned in solidarity with Governor Yusuf. Sanusi Bature, wetin be the governor’s press guy, follow drop names of the federal lawmakers too.
Kano get 24 representatives for the national assembly, but this one wey don happen make APC dey hold 19 seats while NNPP dey struggle with only 5. You fit imagine say some of the NNPP members don already jump to APC, including Abdulmumin Jibrin and Alhassan Rurum, wey don collect their own bag of rice from the other side.
Abba Yusuf, the governor wey don suffer serious palava inside NNPP, talk say him resign because of internal wahala wey no gree let dem rest. Everybody dey expect say him go join APC today, Monday, January 26, 2026, as him don prepare ground finish. Na this one make the state assembly wey get 40 members now dey nearly full APC, with 36 strong members dey flex their muscles.
Now everybody dey wonder as wahala dey hot for Kano State. No be only the lawmakers! The Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Yusuf Kofarmata, don also throw in towel, say him no fit work again under this kind tremor. E talk say e no fit carry himself dey where dem dey forecast bad luck for the state.
Kofarmata sabi say him remain in office no go fit gree make people trust government again. E don work for several ministries bashfully and e commend the journey but na so e carry duffle bag waka. Now wey 22 lawmakers don jump, and Kofarmata don pack, everywhere for Kano dey shakara!
E be like say the deputy governor, Aminu Abdulssalam Gwarzo, no gree follow Abba Yusuf side, as him dey open eye dey follow Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso. But as e be, Kwankwaso dey look him side, dey only dey pick loyalists. Dem say confusion don burst for the cabinet as supporters dey scatter like pepper soup wey don boil.
As 2027 elections dey approach, one thing wey dey very clear be say, the political landscape for Kano don change, e don dey shift like dey read skit from another chapter. Well, make we observe and see how the remaining players go manage the ball as the party game don enter new level.
