The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) for North-East Zone don raise alarm say water no dey flow for dem schools. Dem call am serious threat wey fit affect students health and dem academic work. Zonal Coordinator, Muazu Hina, don talk say dem dey face likey-bola shortage of potable water and e no sweet at all!
As if that one no enough, the cankerworm infestation don come join matter. According to Hina, dis infestation don scatter water sources and sanitation facilities for campuses. Imagine students dey waka around dey fear say dem go catch malaria or wetin! Na wetin dem go fit learn when dem dey quench? Na serious matter o!
Hina no chop mouth; e clear say access to clean water na fundamental human right. E call on the North East Development Commission make dem shine dem eye and tackle this wahala sharp-sharp. E suggest say dem go fit deploy solar-powered boreholes and sustainable water infrastructure for these schools. Abeg, make we no continue dey suffer for this matter!
Hina talk say, “NEDC suppose dey handle water and light challenges for schools, na wetin dem suppose dey do as part of dem mandate.” But as e be now, despite all the letters and meetings wey don happen with the Commission, the water wahala still dey ground. Ahan! Wetin we go do now?
We nor fit allow dis one wey affect students’ welfare and school balance continue so. E don reach time for action, sharp-sharp! NANS dey vow say dem no go keep quiet, dem go dey advocate till dem see changes. Na wetin dem talk be this!
Hina also don urge all relevant government agencies, NGOs, and concerned Nigerians make dem join hand together to solve this wahala and create better learning environment for students dem across Gombe and the North-East.
