Na wah o! Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) don carry serious gbola come for those wey dey dodge tax matter. Dem just announce say dem go start to collect unpaid taxes from people wey no dey pay wella, and dem go involve banks, employers, and even your landlord sef!

As e be, LIRS don drop public notice wey show say dem get power from Section 60 of Nigeria Tax Administration Act, 2025. This one mean say if you owe tax and you no gree pay, dem fit direct anybody wey dey hold your money – like your bank or boss – make dem pay that tax on your behalf.

Mr. Ayodele Subair, wey be the Executive Chairman of LIRS, talk say dem fit collect money from any person wey dey owe you or hold money for your name if you no settle your final tax arrangement on time. If you no do am, dem go just take am directly from your own pocket. Na wah!

According to the notice, wetin wey dey call “power of substitution” na im dem dey use to collect plenty tax kinds like Personal Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Stamp Duties, and Withholding Tax. Na serious matter wey we no fit ignore!

Dem also talk say if you fall under this category and your money don dey reach LIRS desk, you no get choice but to comply sharp-sharp. If you no go fit give the amount dem request, e fit lead to wahala plus penalties wey go make your pocket small.

LIRS dey carry mat for ground if person wey owe tax no want hear word! E mean say dem fit direct your bank, employer, or even your side-chick wey dey owe you money to pay on your behalf. And if you no go comply, you fit land yourself for serious gbege.
