No be small wahala o! One man wey be Asian recently share how he take recover N150,000 wey some police officers for Lagos extort from am. This story no be for faint-hearted, my people! As e be, the man dey go bar to watch Naija match when police stop their Uber for bridge for Ikeja.
According to the guy, e carry him friend go watch Naija versus Morocco match when police officers come ask am for passport and visa. Omo, you know say Naija police sabi sharpen their wahala when e come to foreigners! This guy no carry him passport come, but e quickly call him staff make dem send am the pictures of the necessary documents to show say na legal guy.
But the officers wey dey on top no wan hear word at all! Dem drag am out from the car like say dem dey carry person wey thief small thing. The man talk say dem dey use their weapons to threaten am, wahala wey no need! E dey reason say na so dem dey suppose treat person wey get visa wey don follow all the rules?
After plenty talk wey dem dey ignore, dem come demand N150k from the guy as bribe to allow am go. Imagine o! He no get choice but to transfer the money to dem, just to save himself from wahala. Na so the guy collect transfer receipt and documents wey go prove say e no do anything wrong.
As the man calm down from him shock, e quickly find the Nigeria Police Force Complaint Response Unit online and send dem one email with all hin gist, transfer record and visa documents wey e get. Na so them respond fast-fas, asking for more details to investigate the matter.
The guy talk say “dem reply me within hours, asking me to send more details.” All through the weekend, one officer wey dey call Anthony Chukuma, no gree rest! E dey call di DPO from Ikeja, dey try gather evidence. Na so e dey help the man cool down from him stress, say make e no worry.
Enter DPO Akin Umi from Ikeja Division show say him dey ready to handle the case well. Dem start internal investigation to find the officers wey do the extortion. As God go have am, the next day, N150,000 wey dem collect from the man don land back for hin bank account!
The man come dey shout “with the help of CRU and Ikeja Division, my money don return!” Na so e save himself from police palm-greasing and get dem to do the right thing. Abeg, make we learn from this man! Next time, we no go just sit down and let anybody chop our money anyhow.
