Lagos Red Cross Don Start Measles-Rubella Vaccination Training

My people, make we yarn quick! Lagos State don waka enter full gear as dem Red Cross don start training for measles-rubella vaccination campaign wey go happen soon.

According to Olakunle Lasisi, wey be Branch Secretary for Nigerian Red Cross, dem dey do this training to clear plenty wahala wey dey surround vaccination. Dem go dey educate parents and community members, make dem sabi say measles no be small picking matter, e fit kill!

For the training wey dem hold for Yaba last Friday, Lasisi yan true as e talk say awareness na key: “E no be say we just dey do this every year for mouth. Na to let people know how dangerous measles be, and why dem children gatz get their shot.”

Dey plan to start the vaccination from January 27, and go last for 10 good days across the whole state. So, make your eye dey red, make you no slack!

Dem go also dey go house-to-house – dem go dey colonize communities to tell people the importance of the vaccine, and how people fit collect am. E no go easy, but Lasisi don talk say dem go gather all dem who no wan make their pikin collect the jab to reason with dem.

He also discuss how Lagos State Government dey support the plan, and how dem get current partners like US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) wey don join dem for this journey. E no be play matter, last time wey dem do this kind campaign, dem get positive feedback well well. So, dem dey step up for this year as dem plan to do am better.

Ahmad Abdul-Majid, wey be Senior Project Officer, carry gist come say dem go train over 4,800 volunteers to dey go house-to-house, make e no be only Red Cross pipo dey do the work. Dem go meet caregivers, talk to dem about the vaccine, and clear any doubts wey dem fit get.

Abdul-Majid explain say this vaccine no just protect only the children wey go receive am but e go also help protect everybody wey dey around dem. Na so dem dey call herd immunity. So, the more people wey dey collect vaccine, the better for our community.

For this campaign, American Red Cross dey support six local governments while CDC dey show love for the remaining 14 local governments. Na about 1,700 volunteers and 170 supervisors dey help from American side, while CDC bring over 3,000 volunteers. They no go leave any household behind!

So, make we all shine our eye for this vaccination wey dey come, and no forget to join hand to support the movement. After all, na our children we dey talk about, gatz protect dem as dem dey grow!
