No be small wahala, my friends! Students wey dey Ondo State College of Health Technology for Akure don gather as e be like say dem don tire for the wahala wey dey happen for dia school. Dis protest wey dem do on Monday na serious matter o! Dem block main gate, set tyre on fire, and dey sing solidarity songs as if say na concert! Na so dem take ground all lectures and exams.
Dem no wan hear anything about lecture or exam until di school management try fix wetin don make dem cry since wetin sef? Years of neglect and exploitation no be small thing o! Armed with placards wey get messages like ‘We Are Tired of This Wickedness’ and ‘No Solution, No Exams’, dem students show say dem no go fit keep quiet again. Na di state of dem classrooms, hostels, labs and even the water wey dey run like say na ghost dey supply am make dem vex pass!
Some students yarn gist with reporters, dey talk say di school management dey collect money wey no even get head or tail for conditions wey bad dey like dis. Dem complain say wen dem talk to di management, e be like say dem dey talk to wall. Omo, no be small fight for dia rights, o! Dem come dey chant ‘Stop Extortion Now’ like say dem wan change dia luck by force!
One student wey dey represent dem, Adeola Ibiroke, no gree keep mouth shut. Her words, ‘No water, no steady light, classrooms dey fall apart, our hostels be like ghost house, yet dem dey ask us for money like say we be ATM machines!’ Na im she talk say di management turn di school to money-making machine, and dem even dey encourage some lecturers wey dey demand money for textbooks wey no dey available. Wetin dat one mean, abeg?
Ms Ibiroke continue, ‘We don try reach out to dem plenty times, but dem dey shut us down like say we no get right.’ E be like say dis protest don overdue, and dem dey make sure say dem go achieve wetin dem want dis time around.
When dem reach out to di rector, Emoruwa Oluwole Oluwanbe, him deny all di accusations wey di students bring as matter. But him talk say di state government don intervene and dem go hold meeting wey go address di wahala. As e be now, dem students still insist say no lecture, no exam until dem see true change! Na so di matter be o!
