Obasanjo don talk say, ‘Children na the hope and future of any society,’ so na wetin make am agree to be advocates for this important matter wey get to do with children health. E dey yarn true ’cause as e tok am, no lie dey ground. This man sabi wetin e dey talk, as e don experience plenty things for lifetime – e no fit just close eye on children wey dey suffer for sickness wey fit just disappear if we do the right thing.
As e dey yarn with Dr. Ekanem Ekure wey be the President of the association plus other executive members, dem remind am say medical care for children no be child’s play. Medical professionals wey sabi work for dis area dey handle matters wey fit save life or cause death, and e take heart to talk say these doctors suppose push their efforts to help our children better.
Ekure don also beg Obasanjo make e take this advocacy matter wey involve pikin health serious, because for Nigeria, more than half of our population na children and young people! But wahala dey as many dey battle issues like malnutrition, diseases, and human rights wahala.
According to Ekure, every day wey pass, over 800 newborns dey die for we country, and most of dis deaths fit avoid if we get the right care. Dis matter too serious, as Nigeria still dey lag behind for achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3 when e come to children wey dey under five years.
She talk say, ‘Vaccine hesitancy, poverty dem be the main wahala wey dey cause these preventable deaths, and we suppose do something sharp before e too late.’ You fit imagine say measles don dey show face again, while for some hospitals, na for dreams dem dey see am! She really push say vaccine fit save lives and people need to wake up to dis reality.
The conference wey dey come up for January 21 to 23 na specially planned event wey go gather brainstormers from all over, including policymakers, researchers, and media people, to find solution to dis serious issue of children health. E go be like say dem wan use technology come innovate how we fit handle health wahala for children.
