Omo, you go hear this one wey dey shake Kano State! Na National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) don land serious gbege for their hand as dem report say dem don collect 3,019 complaints for 2025 alone. Abeg, wetin dey happen for our country?
The NHRC State Coordinator, Shehu Abdullahi, na him dey carry the gist for us. E talk say 2,276 of the complaints don already reach conclusion level, but 743 dey still dey drag their feet. Na serious matter wey concern wetin? Abandonment of pikin, domestic wahala, and other human rights issues wey dey vex people.
Make we no forget say na law enforcement wahala self dey join the matter. Sexual and gender-based violence don join the list and parents wey dey neglect their pikin. Abeg, wetin be dis? People no suppose dey treat pipe like mosquito!
Shehu also talk say in 2025, dem run one dey to collect data for communities wey dey inside Kano State. Na so dem fit gather more than 2,000 persons wey come from different places kwik-kwik, including asylum seekers and displaced persons. E be like say everybody wan japa from one gbege to another!
As e be now, NHRC dey plan to run more awareness campaigns, especially for villages wey dem no fit hear jazz for city. Dem wan enter traditional rulers’ area and hold town hall meetings. Na so dem go fit raise security consciousness. E no go dead easy o, but dem dey try!
Shehu don yan say dem go work closely with Ministry of Justice and other important bodies to make sure say everybody dey enjoy their human rights well well. If dem fit achieve am, na better thing go come for Kano and Nigeria as a whole. Na only we go fit protect ourselves if we shine our eyes!
