Herders Don Carry Boku Trouble for Benue Communities

You don hear am well, my people? Na wah oh! Omo, armed herders don turn some communities for Benue State to warfront. Early morning this Tuesday, dem unleash wahala for Otobi-Akpa community, and e no be small thing. Five persons, including a former councillor wey be Hon. Ochi Ugbabe, don lose their lives.

According to locals, the attackers come around 1:30am with their guns blazing, shooting anyhow and looting any shop wey dem fit find. Na real gbege! Dem say other volunteers just dey patrol the area after some failed kidnap attempt wey happen the Sunday before. Na so dem fit alert the community guard, but when dem rest small, wahala just land on top dem head.

One community elder, John Anyebe, don confirm say na herders wey dey terrorize dem for long don do this one again. Dem start to kill from the water board before dem waka go where Hon. Ochi and four others dey, come continue the shooting. Biko, how e go take gain like this?

It vex me as the lawmaker for that area, Mr. Kennedy Angbo, don speak out. E dey complain say di attacks don too much for dem side. Just last Sunday, some passengers for Benue Links bus don also collect beats from attackers. Wetin di world dey turn to?

Governor Hyancinth Alia’s security adviser don also talk say dem don receive report of di attack and some police and community guards don dey deployed to check make e no happen again. But people dey wonder, wetin be di solution, as di attacks no be small paddy-paddy matter.

If you know say you dey follow gist for Benue, make I drop this one for your side. Last week, similar thing don happen for another community, Udeku Maav-Ya, where five people lose their lives too. Na so dem armed herders show dem pepper while dem dey harvest yams for farm! Na every dem wey suffer for this violence, all these people dey live with fear say anytime dem fit come back again!

Local leaders dey shout say their schools dey close, churches dey shut down, and their crops don suffer damage. The government, as usual, dey promise but no action dey follow. Dem dey at the mercy of these armed herders, and e no sweet at all!

This one wey I just talk, no be joke oh. Na matter wey serious pass. Di leaders say dem go need more presence from government to tackle dis security wahala wey dey happen because e fit affect food security anytime dem attack during harvest season.

Make we no forget say as we dey talk, police dey investigate di matter well-well but how long e go take? E go better if dem fit catch dis herders wey dey disturb our peace.
