Chai! This one no be small wahala o! Rivers State House of Assembly don sharpen their knives as dem continue with the impeachment process against their governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and im deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu. Dem don drop this gist last week, and e no be joke at all!
According to Hon. Enemi George wey be the Chairman for Information Committee, dem dey follow constitution matter, no be play play. Dem don start the case since January 8, and as e dey stand, the process dey on course. Dem don even serve notice of gross misconduct to both the governor and im deputy. Dem dey wait for their response, no be small tension dey in the air.
Na serious allegations dey fly around. Dem accuse Fubara of demolishing the Assembly complex, spending money without approval, holding funds, and even disobeying Supreme Court orders! E be like say the matter don turn like fine drama for Naija politics, wey no dey lack any story!
Dem Assembly people don come out sharply to clear the air. Dem talk say some media and individuals dey spread false stories wey fit create wahala between dem and the public, but dem go stand firm. Na so e go be as dem dey protect democracy and uphold the law.
But how the people dey feel for this impeachment matter? E get one coalition wey no gree keep quiet. Dem don come out sharp, dey criticize the Assembly for the action, call am “lawless” and “politically reckless.” Dem dey threaten them say if dem no stop, dem go initiate recall for all those wey dey support this impeachment.
All dis drama no dey happen in isolation. Recall say e be like a movie wey start since 2023 when dem first try to impeach Fubara, and dem don try am before. Angels of presidential intervention fit come save the day before, but now? Na to see how e go play out this time be the issue!
The APC, wey dey face backlash from this matter, don show dem strength. Dem dey push to keep Fubara and the administration intact, say this impeachment no be the right move. Dem dey fear say if this thing no stop, e go tarnish the image of the party and bring unnecessary trouble for Rivers.
