Doctors Don Set to Gree Strike Again for Better Working Condition

Chai! Wetin we dey hear again? Resident doctors wey dey University of Uyo Teaching Hospital don join their fellow doctors across the country to wan start strike from January 12, 2026. Dis move na follow dem national association way dem call NARD, wey don carry hammer come out to protest!

As di President of di University of Uyo doctors, Dr Ekomobong Udoh yarn for their emergency meeting for Uyo, dem talk say dem go follow NARD full ground. Dem dey plan peaceful protest on Monday, wey go start by 9am for di hospital premises. E be like say di government no dey hear word as dem fail to fulfill wetin dem gree for contract wey dem sign with di doctors last year.

Dis strike wey dem dey call TICS 2.0 dey come with slogan wey sweet for mouth: “No Implementation, No Going Back,” meaning say if dem no get wetin dem demand, no way dem go show face again for work. Dem don line up plenty demands like re-instatement of dem five doctors wey dem sack, payment for promotion wey dem dey owe, and clear rules from di Ministry of Health.

But no be only di Uyo doctors dey vex, oo! Di Association of Resident Doctors for University of Abuja don also show support. Nay dey reason say dem no go sit down dey look as dem fellow brothers dey suffer. Di President of Abuja branch, Dr Adewale-Adeleye Premiere, confirm say di Abuja group go follow NARD for dis strike matter. According to am, plenty promises wey di government don break plenty times.

Dem dey cry out say di Federal Government need to fix di health system. Dem dey beg for better salary, payment of allowance wey dey overdue, and better equipment for hospitals so dat dem fit work well. Mad oh! Di way things dey go, if dem no fix am, dem go use strike to flex dia muscle and dem don already prepare ground for protest from January 12 to 16.

Meanwhile, di Federal Government still dey look like confused pikin as dem never reply to di doctors’ strike warning. Na wetin go happen we go see. But make we dey watch as di health sector dey face another wahala as doctors dey prepare to shout their wahala for street.
