My people, wetin dey happen? US don open new visa wahala for some countries wey no dey play! As e be, from January 21, 2026, Naija citizens wey wan apply for B1/B2 visa go need post bond wey fit reach $15,000. Chai! E be like na big gbege wey don land!
This new policy wey US State Department release no be small matter oh! Dem say dem dey try reduce visa overstay and make sure people go back home when dem visa expire. But wetin I go tell una be say, this bond na financial wahala wey go dey affect many families and small businesses.
Wetin dis mean be say, if you dey come from one of di 38 countries wey US don list, as Naija dey among dem, you fit need to post bond of $5,000, $10,000, or even $15,000 before you fit step foot for American land. And dem no go even guarantee visa for you after you don post di bond!
As e be, di countries wey join Nigeria for dis visa bond saga include Algeria, Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Egypt among others. More than half of di countries be African countries, and e get as e fit be like say dem wan discourage we from coming to America.
Dem also talk say, if you no comply, you fit face serious issues when you reach US. Dem get three major airports wey you fit enter if you hold dis visa, and dem na Boston Logan, JFK for New York, and Washington Dulles. So if you wan enter, pak your bag for one of this airports oh!
Critics don already dey shout say dis bond dey wahala because e dey hit pockets of many Naija people. I mean, $15,000 na serious cash for many families wey no fit even get small change to travel, how dem go fit pay that kin money?
This new visa bond policy dey come after dem don already place some travel restrictions on Nigeria since December 2025, wey dem reason say na because of security concerns and overstay wahala. E no sweet for we forma land, but we go fit find better way to jam am!
Now, if you dey plan to travel, make sure say you wise up. E good make you gather all your document and make your financial plans well. Travel go fit sweet pass, but dis new bond matter fit make am bitter for many people wey wan catch small enjoyment for di US.
