Dem don confirm say dem lose one young medical student, Timilehin Adetoye Toromade, wey just 18 years old. Na wetin we dey hear today, January 6, 2026, as the news don spread like bush fire for area.
According to wetin dem report, this gbege happen for early hours of Tuesday when Timilehin just dey sleep for him room. Na so one of him roommates mention say he don see am around 2 a.m. when e go open door for another guy wey dey live for the same building. Later, when dem come check am, the guy no fit wake up again. Na so dem call people to rush am, but wahala don don happen already.
The university management no take the matter lightly at all. Abiodun Olanrewaju, wey be the Public Relations Officer, don drop statement wey talk say dem dey work with relevant authorities to find out wetin really happen. E even talk say everybody for the university dey share in grief as dem don lose person wey just dey start him path to become doctor.
As the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simeon Bamire, talk, ‘This na deep pain and distressing matter.’ Him even go ahead to send condolences to Timilehin family and all him friends. Everybody from OAU dey united for this grief, as dem say this kind loss don leave big gap in the hearts of those wey know am.
The statement wey dem release talk say dem go provide support for students and staff wey dey emotionally affected by this sad news. As dem dey mourn, dem dey urge everyone to hold on to the values wey make Great Ife community strong. “We call on students, staff, alumni, and all our people to remain calm and deal with this matter with empathy and prayer,” dem talk.
