Chai, my people! Our heart dey heavy as we hear say boat wey carry people go market for Yobe don capsized, and e don take 29 lives already. This one no be small matter o!
The accident happen on Saturday night for Garbi town, wey dey along Yobe River. According to wetin the Yobe emergency management agency talk, e get 52 passengers wey dey inside the boat when dem go market and some go fish or farm. But wahala burst, as the boat no gree carry all the people, e just turn upside down!
Na only 13 people survive and dem don rush dem go hospital for treatment. The search and rescue team dey work non-stop to see if dem fit find the remaining passengers wey still dey miss.
Governor Mai Mala Buni don show him sympathy for the families wey lose loved ones and him don promise to provide all the necessary support for the survivors. This matter don happen before; boats for this area dey fall make many people dey fear because dem no dey maintain am well and most of dem no dey use life jackets. Na bad news be that!
We no go forget say Nigeria dey suffer from boat accidents well-well. For remote areas, na so water transportation dey be the main road for farmers, traders and fishermen. But e still dey come with plenty risks. E get one time wey 15 people die for another boat mishap for September and many others don follow join since July wey pass.
Yobe emergency management agency don release statement on how dem dey find more bodies as dem continue the search. Dem say na overloading and poor vessel condition na wetin cause the capsizing, and e mean say wahala still dey for our waterways!
Peeps, the Governor don order say make dem look into matters wey concern safety for water transportation. Dem wan make sure say vessels no dey carry more passengers than wetin dem fit handle and all passengers must wear life jackets to fit secure dem lives. Na good plan, but we go see how e go work!
