Wetin happen? Some gbege don happen for local government secretariat when Court of Appeal for Akure pass judgment wey scatter everywhere. Because of the gbege, dem NULGE leaders tell their members make dem no come work again until things clear. But e don take time, and the grassroots level don dey suffer. Now, dem don talk say dem go show face again come 2026!

Dr. Nathaniel Ogungbangbe, the NULGE president, na him bring this newly-signed statement for Monday wey dey shine light on wetin dem go do. One major thing wey dem talk be say dem don make formal request to bring security personnel come all 30 Local Government Councils, make e no be like say anybody wan scatter their work place again. Dem don see am as wahala, so dem want everything safe like baba that!

Dem also drop some heavy demand for security agencies. First, dem remind say the so-called ‘APC Yes/No Chairmen’ wey don dey claim say dem still dey hold the secretariats, their tenure don expire since October 30, 2025. Abeg, make we reason am: how a Chi-man go still dey find work when e don reach his deadline? E no make sense abeg!

Plus, dem don gather for Federal High Court, Osogbo, sey dem wan extend their tenure, but instead of waiting for the court to settle matter, dem dey try to occupy government properties. That one na big wahala, and e dey violate wetin the 1999 Constitution yarn about how government matter suppose dey run.

Na so, NULGE talk say dem workers dey law-abiding people, but the environment for their work dey volatile. Dem no fit waka go work when unauthorised people dey occupy their office. Na serious matter be this, my people!

NULGE still yan sey the local government work fit run well without Chairmen or Councilors, abi e no dey true? Dem fit just use the Head of Local Administration (HLA) and the Directors for Administration and Finance to carry on. Na wetin dey happen for 2025 Local Government Accounts Administration Law be that.

The union don clear say make security agencies bring enough people come to guard the 30 Local Government councils and make sure say nobody go disturb them. Dem still warn say if anything happen wey go lead to wahala due to dem no fit ensure security, dem go chop e as evidence sey dem don talk am before!
