Naija Government Don Plan Big Change for Motor Industry By 2026

Ah, my people! Na here we dey talk about wetin Government don plan for our motor wahala.

Federal Government don gree to change the koko for our automotive sector by 2026. Dem wan stop all those ‘end-of-life’ vehicles wey dem dey dump for Naija. You sabi wetin be ‘end-of-life’? Na those motors wey no fit pass inspection for their own country but dem go still ship am come our side for ‘profit’. E no go work again for Japan or Canada, but Naija go just collect am like say na gold!

Oluwemimo Osanipin, the Director General of NADDC, talk say, “we no go gree again o!” Dem don find out say some exporters dey use Naija as their dumping ground. Under this new plan, when you wan register your vehicle, you go first pay small fee wey go support how dem go dispose and recycle those old motors wey don gree die.

About 85 percent of parts wey dey inside those old motors fit still work, so imagine how many jobs and market wey go dey open. If we fit manage am well, this whole recycling business fit bring more than ₦150 billion to our economy every year! Na serious matter we dey talk here, e no be play.

Plus, dem wan introduce mandatory certification for all the used motors wey go enter our borders from 2026. This means say, before any used vehicle come enter Naija, dem go check am for the country wey e dey come from. If e no pass, e no go enter o. With this, dem go fit protect our pockets and ensure say we no go dey buy trouble!

Osanipin yarn say, if we fit collect and recycle well, the old motors go turn second-hand market wey fit make sense for our economy. This policy go even require that the manufacturers and importers go carry their cross. If dem produce or sell am, dem go follow the vehicle from birth to grave!

As China don dey close shop for internal combustion engine motors within the next five years, Naija no go sit down dey look again. Government don step up training for technicians wey go fix electric motors and convert petrol vehicles to gas. Na serious preparation dem dey plan for our future.

Osanipin talk say, by 2026, we go get our own technicians wey sabi how to maintain and repair this motors well well. E go be say, when the foreign motors come, Naija go fit take care of am by ourselves! And to back all this up, programming to train more technicians and new draft laws wey go make the automotive industry even better dey on the way.

Like as Osanipin dey talk am, “These reforms no be only about rules but about protecting our people, the environment, and Nigeria’s economy.” So, my people, make we prepare our minds; this new plan fit change the way we dey see salted motors for Naija!
