According to the ogbonge statement wey dem drop, the CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, don talk say Christmas na sacred season wey dey mark the birth of Jesus Christ. E dey represent pure vibes like love, peace, and redemption, so how una go take join dirty with am?
Dem say linking such holy celebration with the word ‘dirty’ dey reduce the spiritual essence, turning wetin suppose dey serious into sham. Wetin e mean? Na wah! How we go fit enjoy Christmas wey suppose be all about sweetness, if e dey mixed with this kind wahala?
CAN also yan say dem sabi say creative freedom dey important but e get level. E no mean say dem go just open door for anybody to carry dey make insult wey go touch sensitive matter for people life, especially in this Naija wey diverse pass jollof rice wey dey get many ingredients.
Dem don call the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) make dem explain how such title fit pass approval, especially during Christmas period wey supposed bring joy and harmony for everybody.
Indeed, dis matter no fit pass unnoticed. CAN dey beg industry bodies like the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and other Nollywood stakeholders make dem take stand on the use of religious themes wey fit provoke or offend pipo wey hol religious matter for head.
The association don also appeal to the producer oh, Ini Edo, saying make she reconsider the title and come issue public apology. Dem dey hala for her say as e be now, this kind action wey dey trivialise sacred values no go help matter at all. E go just deepen division and spoil mutual respect wey we suppose get for each other during this time wey our nation dey face serious moral and social challenges.
As dem don raise this issue, CAN don promise say dem go continue to dey speak out whenever dem notice say people dey undermined the dignity of the Christian faith for public space. E no go better if dem dey allow dis kind thing continue, na so wahala go dey increase. So, wetin we go do now? Time don dey quick for dem to act sharp!
