Reports from Turkey don talk say Barcelona no get plan to sign Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, whether for January transfer window or next summer. The club reportedly decide against pursuing the Galatasaray forward for short term and long term, and that one fit be blow to Osimhen hope of joining one of Europe biggest clubs.
Osimhen name bin dey among top attackers wey dem link with several big European clubs during summer transfer window. Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea bin reportedly interested, while Barcelona also appear as possible destination as the club search for replacement for Robert Lewandowski. But Barcelona later pursue other options, with Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus among forwards wey enter their plan.
Before the reports, Osimhen bin dey enjoy life for Turkey after two successful years for Istanbul. A move to Barcelona for him would have give am another chance to prove himself for highest level of European football. But Galatasaray and Barcelona meet for Champions League this week, and Osimhen struggle to make serious impact for the game.
One reason wey dey behind Barcelona direction na say their attack no slow down even though dem no sign Osimhen and Julián Álvarez. Barcelona win all eight of their opening La Liga matches, score 24 goals. Dem also win their first two Champions League fixtures and find net nine times. Even with Raphinha sideline through injury, Barcelona continue to show attacking strength, with Gabriel Jesus, Lamine Yamal and Anthony Gordon contributing to the forward threat. Fermín López, Karim Adeyemi and Dani Olmo also provide quality support.
That impressive start don settle the nerves of Barcelona leaders, and reports suggest dem may no longer see need to invest heavily in another centre-forward for January or next summer. The club fit later decide say upgrade for that position dey necessary, but committing more than €100 million to Osimhen go be big financial decision when the current attack dey produce goals consistently. Barcelona fit explore alternatives wey get different financial profile instead of pursuing the Nigerian at that high price.
The second reason dey tied to Barcelona win over Galatasaray in midweek. Osimhen meeting with Barcelona suppose be chance to show the qualities wey made am top target, but the Galatasaray forward struggle to influence the game as his team get difficult night.
Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal bin admit say Osimhen disallowed goal for the Champions League match fit don make the game more difficult for the Spanish side. Osimhen think say he don double Galatasaray lead for first half, but his powerful header no stand after VAR review. Barcelona later rally to dominate the match, score four goals and secure 4-1 victory over the Turkish champions to claim all three points. The disallowed goal prove significant moment as Barcelona recover from setback to record convincing win.
Yamal talk say if Galatasaray second goal no disallow, their work for Istanbul go hard well well. “If Galatasaray’s second goal hadn’t been disallowed, our job in Istanbul would have been very tough,” Yamal talk, according to Le Marca Sports.
