CAF rubbish 2027 AFCON relocation talk, insists Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda go host

CAF don put end to controversy over wetin go happen to 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, as dem settle doubts about where next year tournament go hold.

Confederation of African Football don already confirm say next edition go run between 19 June and 17 July 2027, and Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda go co-host am.

Arab press reports claim yesterday, Friday, say CAF president Patrice Motsepe go do inspection visit to the three host nations next January, to test their readiness five months before kick-off.

Those reports add say CAF fit move the tournament elsewhere if the three nations no ready by that time.

Luxolo September, CAF media spokesman, fire back for exclusive comments to Kooora today, Saturday, insist say ‘this news na repetitive, and we don clarify the truth more than once’.

He add: ‘This na false news, and e no get any basis in truth. CAF no dey consider moving the Africa Cup of Nations, and e trust say Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda fit organise the tournament on schedule’.

Same reports claim say there be proposal to push the 2027 edition back to 2028, and to settle for one edition instead of the current plan of two before the tournament switch to four-year cycle.

Luxolo September dismiss that one too, stress say CAF dey committed to the current schedule.

Back in April, he don deny similar reports to Kooora about the tournament future.

Two rounds of qualifiers don already play.

The qualifying campaign go end next March.
