Federal Government don launch one e-training portal for staff of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The platform na to improve professional capacity, efficiency and access to continuous learning inside the scheme.
Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, talk am on Monday when e inaugurate the NYSC Staff E-Training Portal during the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Pre-Orientation Workshop for Abuja.
Olawande hail NYSC leadership for bringing technology-driven initiatives wey aim to improve productivity and service delivery. He say the new platform go support continuous learning among staff.
According to the minister, the portal go help build workforce wey efficient, knowledgeable and responsive. He urge NYSC personnel to embrace technology as part of efforts to make the scheme better.
“This platform would also help to build more efficient, knowledgeable and responsive workforce. We are committed towards making the Scheme get better, let us work together and embrace technology,” na so Olawande talk.
He also stress say Corps Members need practical skills beyond their academic qualifications. Certificates alone, e talk, no fit solve unemployment problem.
Olawande yan say young graduates suppose get exposure to leadership, entrepreneurship, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, plus discipline, integrity and personal responsibility.
“Every Corps Member must be encouraged to make meaningful impact,” e talk. He add say the mandatory service year suppose give graduates chance to serve, lead and contribute to national development.
He point to Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme as key part of NYSC. He say make dem strengthen the programme so Corps Members go acquire skills wey go improve their employability and entrepreneurial capacity.
The minister position put more weight on using service year as pathway for graduates to develop practical capabilities wey go support employment and self-employment after national service.
Also speaking, Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, talk say changing societal realities don make it necessary for the scheme to continually review its Orientation Course. This na to make sure e remain relevant to the needs of Corps Members.
Nafiu say the theme of the workshop, “Reimagining the NYSC Orientation Course: Building Resilient, Responsible and Service-Oriented Corps Members for a Changing World,” dey designed to strengthen character, mindset, skills and civic awareness of Corps Members.
He stress say effective collaboration among stakeholders go important for the success of the Orientation Course, especially when e come to welfare and security of Corps Members across the country.
The NYSC DG also assure say the scheme go continue to work with security agencies to assess risks, take preventive measures and protect Corps Members throughout their service year.
Earlier, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr Nura Umar, describe the Orientation Camp as the first major point of contact for Corps Members as they begin their service year.
He say the period suppose dey used to shape their character, values and understanding of national responsibility. He call for modernisation of the content, methodology and delivery of the Orientation Exercise.
Umar urge participants at the workshop make dem develop strategies for strengthening stakeholder relationships, improving Corps Members’ welfare and safety, enhancing camp administration, discipline and leadership development, and deepening the SAED programme.
