APC Govs Talk Tough: No Alliance Go Undermine Tinubu Re-Election

Di Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), wey be umbrella body of governors wey dem elect on APC platform, don tok say dem no go participate in, support or endorse any alliance or political arrangement wey fit undermine President Bola Tinubu re-election, weaken di ruling party, or affect any APC candidate at all levels for di 2027 general election.

Di forum talk dis one on Monday night after closed-door meeting for Imo State Governor’s Lodge inside Abuja. Chairman of di forum and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, read di communique after di meeting.

Uzodimma tok say di primary focus of di forum na to support official APC candidates at all levels, no be external interests. Him words: ‘Di APC Governors Forum unanimously resolved say its members no go participate in, support or endorse any alliance or political arrangement capable of undermining di re-election of President Bola Tinubu, weakening di APC or adversely affecting any candidate of di party at all levels.’

Him add say di forum no get any intention to support any candidate at any level wey no be APC candidate, because na di party dey sponsor its candidates wey dey contest election. ‘Di governors campaign commitment dey exclusively for all APC candidates. All levels of di party campaign architecture go align with di expectations of President Bola Tinubu and di strategic objectives of di party,’ Uzodimma tok.

Di declaration from di governors fit dey linked to di perceived animosity between Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRazaq AbdulRahaman, plus Uzodimma. Wike dey support di Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for di 2027 elections for Imo State. He also dey support Senator Saliu Mustapha, wey dey contest Kwara central senatorial election against AbdulRazaq.

Mustapha, former APC member, was pushed out of di party after dem deny am di Kwara central senatorial ticket in favour of di governor. Dat one force am to defect to PDP to re-contest for 2027.

On di APC Presidential Campaign Council, di governors note say dem go command di frontlines of President Bola Tinubu re-election bid for dia home states. Dem stress say di upcoming campaign go get several core pillars, including grassroots mobilisation – penetrating every community, actively engaging all demographic groups and strata of Nigerian society through an inclusive, people-centered approach.
