Nigerian comedian Anita Asuoha, wey plenty people know as Real Warri Pikin, don apologise to her husband and Nigerians. The apology come after backlash over one viral video of her interaction with singer Timaya on stage.
The incident happen on Saturday during AFRIMMA festival for Dallas, Texas. Real Warri Pikin collect ‘Best Stand-Up Comedian’ award for the event. Timaya also perform among Nigerian artistes wey mount stage for the show.
For the viral footage, Real Warri Pikin join Timaya on stage while he dey perform him hit song, ‘Ukwu‘. Later, the singer lift the comedian off ground during the performance.
The video spark criticism on social media. Some Nigerians question whether the interaction make sense, especially as Real Warri Pikin be married woman.
She respond to the backlash inside one Instagram video wey she caption ‘Abeg make una nor vex’. The comedian explain say she dey backstage dey enjoy Timaya performance when he invite one woman to join him on stage. She talk say she act spontaneously without knowing wetin go happen next.
For the video, she yarn for pidgin English say, ‘Nigerians, please take it easy on me, I’m really sorry. I take full responsibility for my actions.’
She continue say if Timaya wan perform him song, ‘Ukwu’, he need to bring a woman on stage for him to carry. She talk say she dey backstage vibing while he dey perform when he ask a lady to come out. She add say when it come to having fun, she always up for it, so she rush out. She also admit say she put herself in the situation.
Real Warri Pikin talk say Timaya then tell her make she jump on him. She say she shock, and she tell am no. According to her, if you watch the full video, you go see her begging him. She talk say she dey very reluctant. But he tell her say, ‘No, you came outside. Don’t spoil my performance.’ So she do it. She beg say make people no vex with her.
She also talk about her husband: ‘My husband is angry with me. Where do you want to put me, my online in-laws, I am in this marriage till thy kingdom come.’
Real Warri Pikin acknowledge say her husband no happy about the incident. The comedian don marry Ikechukwu Asuoha since 2013, and they get three children.
