Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, don describe late former IGP, Solomon Arase, as one exceptional officer wey im ideas and commitment to reform still dey inspire Nigeria Police Force.
Disu talk this one for inaugural memorial lecture wey Police Veterans Foundation organise for im honour, inside Nigeria Police Resource Centre for Jabi, Abuja.
According to Disu, Arase combine intellectual brilliance with humanity, and im understand say policing ultimately na about people, protecting their lives, respecting their dignity and building public confidence in police.
He say the late police chief be approachable, thoughtful and generous with im knowledge, and im be mentor wey genuinely dey interested for wellbeing of others.
“Those of us who had the privilege of sharing moments with him will remember not only the IGP, but the mentor, the counsellor, the gentleman and the friend,” Disu talk.
Disu say Arase death na profound loss to police force and country, but he stress say the lecture no be to mourn am, but to celebrate im life of service.
He commend Police Veterans Foundation for the event and thank Arase family, friends and colleagues for preserving im legacy.
Disu also address the late IGP directly, saying: “Your voice may have fallen silent, but your ideas, your example and your impact continue to speak.”
Finally, he pray for Arase eternal repose and urge officers to draw inspiration from the values and ideals wey the late police chief represent.
