WAEC don release provisional results for 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for Junior High School candidates, but plenty trouble dey inside. Dem cancel subject results for 496 candidates, and even cancel entire results for 105 candidates.
According to statement from WAEC, dem also withhold 119 subject results and entire results for 48 candidates. For extra scrutiny, dem hold subject results of 2,722 candidates wey come from 229 schools. WAEC say dem fit release or cancel these withheld results depending on investigation wey go end effective August 31, 2026.
For this year examination, total 620,243 candidates sit am. Out of this, 304,415 na male and 315,828 na female, wey come from 20,789 participating schools. Dem conduct the exam at 2,237 centres nationwide. But 3,601 registered candidates no show up for the exam.
WAEC also tok say dem make provision for candidates with special educational needs. This include 136 visually impaired, 282 hearing-impaired, and 510 others wey need extra support.
Provisional results don go to schools through Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education. Candidates fit also check their results online through Council official results portal.
For candidates wey dem withhold or cancel result, WAEC say make dem visit irregularities portal or use the withheld/cancelled results link on Council homepage to see details and next steps. School heads fit also retrieve information with their official login credentials.
WAEC warn candidates and public against fraudsters wey dey promise to upgrade exam results for fee. Council say their results safe and fit authenticate.
Council also thank Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, security agencies, school heads, supervisors, invigilators, examiners and other stakeholders for support for this year BECE and timely release of results.
