The police on Tuesday arraigned a 34-year-old woman, Kehinde Adesanya, in an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stabbing another woman with a broken bottle.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Adesanya, whose address was not provided, is facing a count charge of assault occasioning harm, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Mary Ajiteru, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 8, at 8:30pm at No. 72 Isawo Road, Owutu, Agric. area of Ikorodu.
Ajiteru alleged that the defendant unlawfully stabbed one Mrs Abosede Mohammed on her left arm with a broken bottle which caused her bodily injury.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 246(a) of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The Magistrate, C.K Tunji-Careena, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N70,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until June 6, for mention.
Tunji-Careena added that one of the sureties must be a blood relation, gainfully employed with evidence of two years tax payment.
