Osita Okechukwu, the Director General of (VON) has expressed his satisfaction with the consensus on the rotation of power among the members of the governors of the G5 Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

Okechukwu, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said the position of the G5 governors matches the noble and courageous stance of their 19 northern APC counterparts, which led to the rise of the former governor of the state of Lagos, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as APC President. candidate.

“Fairness, fairness, and justice demand that, out of national loyalty, neither section should dominate the other. This is the injustice that the PDP deliberately wants to hand down to Nigerians.”
While noting that the G5 consensus on rotating the presidency to the South has effectively ruled out the DPP presidential candidate, Okechukwu noted that it was up to the group to decide between the two main candidates from the South, Tinubu, and the Labor Party candidate. (LP), Peter Obi.
“This latest conference in London of the G5 governors led by Nyesom Wike comes as the turning point for them to take a decisive stand to guide their supporters. It also sounds like the death knell for any possible reconciliation within the PDP,” he stated.
A former Rivers commissioner told reporters in Abuja that the G5 governors’ election has come down to a shift of power to the South in line with the Southern governors’ Lagos declaration.
The former commissioner, who asked to remain anonymous, revealed that while three of the five governors who chose the LP presidential candidate are motivated by Obi’s excellent records, the other two are playing some clever games to survive politically.
She said, “You know, the presidential pageant is like a beauty pageant, where only registered participants are considered. The G5 governors agree that Obi is not a saint, but he comes with fresher features than the other candidates.
“It was these contrasting qualities, plus the Muslim-Muslim ticket in the first place, that drew a massive following among the main electoral demographic, youth, across the country for Obi.
“So, I can tell you with authority, the three governors who support Obi maintain that although APC has spread, it would be disastrous and suicidal if they support Tinubu with an awkward ticket against his people, most of whom are pro-Obi.
“Therefore, the three governors are aware of the Electoral Law 2022 and the enormous powers and independence that it has given to the electorate.
On Wike’s position on the division, the former commissioner noted that Governor Rivers knew that all politics were local, adding: “Wike is not entirely against Asiwaju, but he is deeply concerned about how his political detractors would react in the state if you slip up. .”
