City, State/Country – E be like sey wahala don burst for live TV on Tuesday as Minister of Works, David Umahi, and Arise TV anchor, Rufai Oseni, enter serious gist (or should I say fight?). Na during one live interview wey dem dey talk about the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, wahala come show face.
As Oseni begin ask Umahi wetin dey happen for the project, him drop one heavy accusation sey Umahi don report am to President Bola Tinubu. The minister no gree take am easy; he blurted, “You are too small for me to report you to the President. Who are you for me to report you?” (Chai! Na so dem dey throw shade like sey na Olympics wey dem dey compete for).
Things wan really pass level when Umahi begin mention sey na him sabi engineering pass small pikin. “I’m a professor in this field. You don’t understand anything,” him talk sharp sharp. E come look Oseni like sey ‘you no even fit stand for my level.’ (Somebody need to call the Association of Professors to come settle this matter).
But Oseni no wan let am land easily; he still dey try to ask more questions about the project. “Minister, it’s alright, keep dignifying yourself, and let the world know who you truly are,” Oseni reply am, as e don dey try calm the fire wey don catch for studio.
Na true say the matter don become hot but e also turn social media wahala as people don begin comment. E dey show sey plenty viewers dey divided over who do pass. Some dey support Oseni sey e ask correct questions while some see Umahi’s response as too condescending (dem dey follow the drama like sey na real-life soap opera wey no go fit finish).
For Twitter, one user, @gelsonluz, come talk sey dis kind exchange dey show us true character wey dey behind policy position, while another, @Royal_Citizens, dey shout sey Rufai suppose respect lawmaker, no be so dem dey do am. Some even dey call for proper journalism method, no be wahala wey dem dey bring come TV.
As the gists dey unfold, one thing wey we fit learn be sey wen dem dey clash like this, na everybody dey win because at least dem dey keep us entertained (and nobody fit say dem no dey do their job). So, make we just dey watch and see how this drama go end. Dis one no be the last ‘clash for TV’.
