ELMONT, New York – The MTV Video Music Awards 2025 didn’t just come together, e no be small matter! E carry plenty glitz, glamour and emotional speeches as stars like Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande turned the night into one big celebration for female artists. The venue? The UBS Arena, where e happen early this Sunday evening, sef.
Gaga sure carried everybody go vibes as she collected four awards, including Artist of the Year. She defeated heavyweights like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, who were nowhere to be found for the event.
“I cannot begin to tell you what this means to me,” Gaga said, as she stood with her awards and her heart fully on her sleeve. She also dedicated one award to her fiancé, Michael Polansky, and of course, her fans, (her “Little Monsters”). Talk about love don’t cost a thing!
Meanwhile, Grande, on the other hand, won for Best Video with her hit, “Brighter Days Ahead.” The girl dem no gree dull matter, as she collected three awards all together. She even thanked her dad during her acceptance speech for featuring in her video, saying, “Art has been a safe space for me since I was a kid.” Now, who else get safe space like that?
The night no finish without emotional moments o! Sabrina Carpenter came through with her performance and also bagged herself several awards. Talk about making mama proud.
Hosted by LL Cool J, the event had its fair share of surprises – like the fact that some awards were still being calculated even after the show wrapped up around 11 p.m. Fans began echoing on social media about their disappointment at not getting to hear all the winners live. Na wah, we dey expect show to show sharp sharp, no dilly-dallying!
Megan Moroney, a new face in the country music scene, diesel the night by becoming the first winner of the Best Country award for her song, “Am I Okay?” And Mariah Carey? Our diva, she took home the Lifetime Achievement award. E be like say full house dey for awards tonight!
We even got a touching tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne, where rock legends gathered to perform his most iconic hits in remembrance. You fit feel the love for that one.
