LAGOS, Nigeria – State Department don announce changes wey go affect immigrant visa approvals for different categories. Dem say from June 2025, foreign nationals fit apply for employment-based adjustment of status if their priority date don pass the cutoff dates wey dem release.
According to the State Department, dem don exhaust all EB-4 immigrant visas for the fiscal year 2025 as of February 28, 2025, and dis category go dey unavailable until September 30, 2025. As it stand, no approval for immigrant visa or adjustment of status applications go fit happen under EB-4 category until next fiscal year start.
“The EB-4 category don reach di annual limit, and we no go fit accept new applications until October 1, 2025,” one State Department representative talk. “We go reset di annual limit then.”
For EB-1 category, wey fit get approval quickly, China priority date na November 8, 2022, while India na February 15, 2022. All other countries dey current for dis category.
For EB-2, China na December 1, 2020, India na January 1, 2013, and all other countries get cutoff date of October 15, 2023.
CB-3 category wey get skilled professionals, China na November 22, 2020, India na April 15, 2013, while all others na February 8, 2023. EB-3 Other Workers, China na April 1, 2017 and India na April 15, 2013, while other countries drop cutoff for June 22, 2021.
However, for EB-5 which concern unreserved categories for regional and non-regional center, China na January 22, 2014, India na May 1, 2019, and all other countries dey current.
Dis announcement no be joke matter as many professionals dey plan their future based on visa approvals. Immigration experts dey advise affected persons to consult with their immigration representatives for proper guidance during dis transition.”
